Neighbors with overgrown yards can bring pests into yours, along with hurting your property value and chances at a sale!

Anne Arundel County government has a process for dealing with overgrown grass on private property. The Department of Public Works handles over 1,400 requests each year relating to the county's Weeded Lot Law.

County Code states that a homeowner, occupant, or person in control of a property may not allow or maintain a growth of weeds or grass 12-inches or higher. Residents can file a complaint against owners who violate the code.

Anne Arundel residents can report an overgrown lot by contacting the Department of Public Works (DPW) at 410-222-7582 between 8 AM - 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. You can also make a report online at the DPW website, indicating your request as "weeded lot" and include a physical address in the comment section. The form can be found at http://www.aacounty.org/departments/public-works/contact-us/index.html.
